The under 14 team defeated Calry on Monday evening last in Round 2 of the league but were beaten by Tubbercurry on Thursday in Round 3 . Round 4 is scheduled to be played away to St. John’s on Friday May 31st

The senior team drew with Eastern Harps in a game played in Gurteen on Sunday last. In Round 8 of the league the team are at home to Shamrock Gaels. Check the scoreboard section for further details.

The club has been approved for 8 places on the Summer Employment Scheme. All eligible third level students are encouraged to pick up an application form from the Social Welfare Office Tubbercurry.

As Leaving and Junior Cert exams continue, the club wish the very best of luck to all our young players involved.

The very best of luck is wished to the boys of Castlerock NS and the girls of Banada NS who contest the Cumann na mBunscol finals in Markievicz Park in the near future. Due to the recent spell of bad weather the date for the finals has yet to be set.

Congratulations to Peter Forde and the Sligo Senior squad on their victory over Lietrim on Sunday last. The club wish the team the very best in the Connacht final versus Galway to be played in 3 weeks time.

Congratulations to Senior team manager Neil Egan, on receiving a diploma in Sport Psychology, recently.

Due to the unseasonally inclement weather, the pitch remains closed for the near future. The pitch committee are looking at the cost of draining and sanding the field to make it an all weather playing surface. Major fundraising will be required for this venture which is necessary to facilitate the 19 teams at all age groups which currently use the field for training and games.

The club were very disappointed to learn of the theft of a large amount of cash and mobile phones from the dressing rooms during senior training on Wednesday June 5th . The club are offering a reward for any information leading to  the recovery or whereabouts of these items. Contact Garda Eddie Jordan or any club officer

The Junior Championship has been postponed over the last number of weeks due to the inclement weather. The match between Tourlestrane and Mullinabreena is tentatively scheduled for this weekend. Please check the scoreboard for further details

Good luck to all the children of the parish who will compete in Community Games in Ballymote at the weekend. Competitors are asked to be at the dressing rooms at 7:30pm Thursday evening to pick up their tracksuits tops and shorts

The boys of Castlerock NS retained their Cumann na mBunscol title by defeating a very sharp and well coached Kilglass side. Trailing at halftime on a score of Castlerock 0-4 Kilglass 2-4, second half goals by team captain Noel Gaughan and Brian Egan paved the way for a dramatic comeback in a highly entertaining match. Final Score Castlerock 2-9 Kilglass NS 2-7. The club would like to welcome the Walsh family to the parish. Currently residing in Creeasane, they will be taking up residence in Castlerock soon.

The girls of Banada NS had a good win over Ballinaleg NS in their final . Leading well at half time the girls held on in the second half to avenge last years defeat in the final.

Congratulations to Kilmactigue NS on winning the mixed 1 and 2 teacher section by defeating Coolbock NS, and commiserations to the girls of Drimina NS who were defeated by a very strong and experienced Geevagh side.

Once again the club would like to say thank you to all the under age coaches. All four schools of the parish were represented in the Cumann na mBunscol finals and much credit goes to the coaches of the under age teams within the parish.

Congratulations to the boys of Castlerock NS and manager Leo Gaughan who won the Cumann na mBunscol hurling final in Markievicz Park last week.

The under 12 team had a close win over Eastern Harps in the first round of the championship played in Tubbercurry on Friday last. The team have now advanced to round 2 to be played next week.

All those interested in helping   to get a start to the drainage should arrive at the pitch on Saturday June 29,2002 at 9:00am with tractors and tools. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to our under age players who competed in the Sligo Community Games finals held in rain soaked Ballymote last weekend. Under 10 player Aaron Murtagh, Under 14 Player Niall Egan, and Under 16 player Fergus Lundy won individual gold medals  and girls under 12 players Yvon Kelly, Louise Gavaghan, Michelle O’Hara, Mariead O’Donnell and and Katriona Walsh won gold medals for the under 12 relay.

Tickets for the Connacht final Sligo versus Galway will be on sale in the dressing rooms on Thursday June 27th at 8:30 pm. Come early to avoid disappointment
